This is the grave of my great-grandfather and 2nd great grandfather. But it’s also the grave of two children.
I found this on FindAGrave.com, but when I found it I wasn’t sure if Salvatore-Domenic was two people or one. Checking with the cemetery (Holy Cross in Yeadon, PA), I found it was two children, my paternal grandfather’s brother, who died at age 4, in 1914, and also my grandfather’s first child, Domenic Jr., who died at 4 months in December, 1926.
Family tells Domenic died Jr. st the hospital, and my grandmother Rose would put a candle in the window at Christmastime every year in his honor.
My grandfather was 12 when his younger brother died, and when as a man in his first year of marriage his first child died I can only imagine how difficult it must have been.
